               Board Will Increase From Seven to Eight Members

MIDLAND, Texas, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. (Amex: NGS) a leading provider of gas compression equipment and services to the natural gas industry, announces that on December 19, 2006, the Board of Directors of Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. voted to increase the number of Directors constituting the Company's Board of Directors from seven to eight. Effective December 19, 2006, John W. Chisholm was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the increase in the number of Directors and will serve until standing for election at the Company's annual shareholders meeting in June 2007.

Mr. Chisholm is an independent Director and his appointment brings the number of independent Directors to a total of six, or 75% of total Board membership. He was additionally named to serve on the Compensation and Governance Committees of the Company's Board of Directors.

Mr. Chisholm is the founder and President of Wellogix, an oil and gas software company that develops software aimed at expediting the exchange of enterprise data and communication of complex engineered services. Prior to founding Wellogix, Mr. Chisholm co-founded and served as President of ProTechnics Company from 1985 until its sale to Core Laboratories in December of 1996. Mr. Chisholm served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing of Core Laboratories until 1998, when he started Chisholm Energy Partners; an investment fund focused on mid-size energy service companies.

Mr. Chisholm holds a Business Administration degree from Fort Lewis College in Colorado. He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board on Middle East Technology of the Oil & Gas Journal and is a member of the Board of Directors and the Compensation Committee of Flotek Industries Inc., an energy-service company listed on the American Stock Exchange.
