October 23, 2006
Natural Gas Services Ranks #67 on 2006 List

MIDLAND, Texas, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. (Amex: NGS), a leading provider of equipment and services to the natural gas industry, announces it has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of "The 200 Best Small Companies" for the second year in a row. The 200 Best Small Companies list is selected following a comprehensive evaluation of financial results plus additional operating factors of candidate companies having sales between $5 million and $750 million. Additional qualification criteria included a consistent pattern of positive growth during a five-year period as well as over the last twelve months and net profit margins greater than 5%.

Steve Taylor, President and CEO of NGS said, "We are gratified that, for the second year in a row Forbes has recognized NGS's achievements and placed us on their prestigious Top 200 small company list. This is a tribute to the Company's customer focus, business strategy and financial execution. Our employees deserve the credit that goes with being named to this list again."

To be included in the Forbes list, a company must be a solid, consistent performer with a strong record over the past 12 month and five-year periods, and positioned for further growth. The Forbes' editors said, "Our list of the 200 Best Small Companies in America ferrets out the most robust, fundamentally disciplined public outfits with sales between $5 million and $750 million. These winners have come through a tough year, contending with suddenly high- energy costs and a string, only recently broken, of 17 interest-rate hikes by the Fed. Not surprisingly, most of these 200 scrappy players carry low debt burdens."
